What to do If I Lost My Qatar ID in Qatar
If you have lost your Qatar ID within Qatar, you need to take several steps to deactivate/cancel your lost ID and get a replacement ID Card from the Ministry of Interior, Government of Qatar.
[A] Report Lost Qatar ID to Police/Security Center
You can visit the Capital Police Station or your nearest police station to register a complaint report about your lost Qatar ID Card. But there may be a long queue which may take a lot of time. You can save time by using Metrash2 App on your mobile to submit a lost report for your QID instantly.

- Open Metrash2 App on your mobile phone.
- Login with your Qatar ID and PIN. The first time users can register first and then proceed to login.
- Find and Select General Services option.
- Select Report Lost Objects.
- Provide QID Number of your family member/sponsor or Establishment Number of your employer. Click on Next.
- Tick the box of ID Card and other lost objects such as purse, driving license, cheque, mobile phone or any other.
- Select your concerned Security Center cum Police Station.
- Provide Lost Place (location) and Lost Period as from one date to another.
- Click on Register to finish.
[B] Obtain Lost Report/Certificate from Police Station or Security Center
After registering the lost report through Metrash2 App, you need to visit concerned police station cum security center to get follow-up about your complaint. In case you want to obtain a copy of lost report/certificate, you can obtain it from the police station.
Once you get the QID lost report from the police/security department, you can proceed to apply for replacement of Qatar ID online or in-person as you prefer.
[C] Apply Online for Replacement of Lost Qatar ID
There are two ways to apply online for replacement of lost Qatar ID, you can apply for it at MOI E-Services Portal or use Metrash2 Mobile App. Kindly follow the steps given here to apply for a replacement QID online;

Note: If you are an expat resident in Qatar, your sponsor needs to apply for replacement of Lost Qatar ID for you.
- Go to MOI E-Services Portal in a web browser or open Metrash2 App on your mobile phone.
- Login with your Qatar ID Number and PIN/Password.
- Select Residency Services to open relevant page.
- Choose Replace Damaged/Lost ID option to continue.
- Select Service Type as Lost.
- Fill up Qatar ID Number of the Sponsored Person i.e. Expat Resident whose QID is lost.
- Enter all the information and upload required documents.
- Select Qatar ID Card Delivery option as by QPost or Courier or Collect by In-person Visit.
- Pay QAR 200 as Qatar ID Replacement Fee plus QAR 20 as Card Delivery Fee using a credit card.
- Save the Payment Receipt and print it.
After completing the steps for replacement QID application, you need to keep patience. The Ministry of Interior will take 3-4 working days to process your request, generate your Qatar ID and print the ID Card. You will receive an SMS/email when your QID is ready to collect or it is dispatched via QPost to your residential address.
[C] Apply for Replacement of Lost Qatar ID In-person
In order to apply for replacement of lost Qatar ID offline, you need to visit the Qatar Immigration Department Office in-person. You can download replacement of lost/damaged ID application form PDF, fill it up and print it. Then take the form with you to the immigration office, it will save your time.
Note: The Al Gharafa Immigration Office is permanently closed, so you have to visit the New Immigration Office to apply for replacement of lost QID in-person.
Here I provide a few steps for a replacement Qatar ID application process as under;

- Find Expatriates Affairs Department Office and enter the office.
- Get the application form for lost QID and fill it up with necessary information. If you already have the form and it is filled up, just move to the next step.
- Attach required documents i.e. a copy of lost Qatar ID, police report, passport size photo, NOC from sponsor and others.
- Submit the application form to the service desk.
- Pay the QID Replacement Fee of QAR 200 and service charges (if any).
- Wait for a few minutes, the service executive will announce your name when your New ID Card is ready.
- Go to the service desk to collect your Qatar ID Card and exit the immigration office.

What to do If I Lost My Qatar ID Outside Qatar
In case you have lost your Qatar ID outside Qatar i.e. while traveling in abroad, you need to take an immediate action. When you lose your QID in other country, you need a return permit to enter the State of Qatar.
Return Permit Fee in Qatar
The Immigration Authority charges Return Permit Fee of QAR 200 if the resident was out of Qatar for less than six months.
In case the resident was out of Qatar for longer than six months, they have to pay the Return Permit Fee of QAR 500.
The Qatar Immigration Authority will issue the Return Permit only after receiving the applicable fee.
[A] Apply for Return Permit on Arrival
When your Qatar ID is lost outside Qatar, you need to obtain a return permit when you return to Qatar. The Qatar Immigration Authority provides return permit on arrival at Doha Airport but you must have required documents to apply for return permit.
- You must have a valid Residency Permit.
- You must not be out of Qatar for longer than six months.
If you fulfill above conditions, you can apply for return permit on arrival at Doha Airport. Kindly follow the steps given here to obtain a return permit from Immigration Office at Doha Airport, Qatar.
- After landing at Doha Airport, walk towards the nearest Immigration Office.
- Provide your passport and residency permit, then request for a Return Permit. You do not need your sponsor’s approval for it.
- Pay the Fee for Return Permit as per rules.
- When issuing the Return Permit, the immigration officer will mark your Residency Permit (and QID) as Lost.
- Inform your sponsor/employer about lost Qatar ID and register the Lost QID Report as early as possible.
- Apply for a Replacement Qatar ID with required documents to get a new QID.
[A] Sponsor Apply for Return Permit through Metrash2 App
When you lost your Qatar ID outside Qatar, you should contact your sponsor immediately to inform them. Your sponsor can be your employer/company or your family head/member or a Qatari Citizen who can get a return permit for you.
The sponsor can apply for their employee’s return permit online through Metrash2 App or apply for return permit in-person at an MOI service center.
- The sponsor should open Metrash2 App and login.
- Find and select Leave Notifications section.
- Click on Return Permit and select Lost QID within 6 Months.
- Select the Employee for who you want a return permit.
- Enter/Select employee’s Qatar ID Number to continue.
- Pay QAR 200/500 as Return Permit Fee.
- The employee will receive the Return Permit by email.
After receiving the Return Permit, the employee must enter Qatar in next 14 days.
In case the sponsor wants to apply for employee’s return permit offline, they can visit the MOI service center with following documents.
- Sponsor’s Establishment Card or Computer Card [if sponsor is an employer/company]
- Sponsor Passport and Qatar ID Card [if sponsor is an individual]
- A Copy of Employee’s Passport
- A Copy of Employees Lost Qatar ID
- Lost Report/Certificate Issued by Police/Security Department
[B] Apply for Replacement of Lost Qatar ID
After you come back to Qatar, you should request your sponsor to apply for a replacement Qatar ID for you. The sponsor can do that using Metrash2 mobile app or at MOI E-Services Portal or visit an MOI Service Center near their location.
In order to apply for replacement of lost Qatar ID outside Qatar, the following documents are required.
- A Copy of Lost Qatar ID
- A Copy of Passport
- A Copy of Residency Visa
- Two Passport Size Photos
- Sponsor’s Letter Signed and Stamped in Arabic
- Sponsor Qatar ID Card or Sponsor’s Establishment Card or Computer Card
