MOI Qatar ID Validity Check Online – Expiry Date and Grace Period

Qatar ID is the official identification card in the State of Qatar. Every Qatar ID comes with a certain expiry date, so it is important to know how to check Qatar ID validity online and the Qatar ID renewal procedure as per government rules.

The Qatar ID Validity is five years for Qatari Citizens under 16 years and the Qatar ID Validity is ten years for Qatari Citizens above 16 years of age. Also, The Qatar ID Validity is a minimum one year and maximum five years for expatriates.

How to Check Qatar ID Validity

The Government of Qatar has authorized the Ministry of Interior to issue and manage Qatar ID Card to all citizens and residents. In order to check Qatar ID validity, there are five different methods that are given as follows.

2. MOI Qatar ID Validity Check Online
3. Qatar ID Validity Check via Metrash2 App
4. Qatar ID Validity Check by SMS
5. Qatar QID Validity Check at MOI Service Centers

Let me explain each method to check QID validity in easy words.

#1. MOI Qatar ID Validity Check on ID Card

Your Qatar ID Card contains all personal details like Your Name, Date of Birth, Occupation, Nationality, Your Photograph and a Unique ID Card Number. In addition, your QID Card also contains Date of Expiry to indicate your Qatar ID Validity easily.

Here I provide two samples of Qatar ID Card on which you can easily spot the expiry date and know its validity.

In case your physical ID Card is lost or you do not have it at this time, you can check the next method to check your Qatar ID validity online at MOI portal.

#2. MOI Qatar ID Validity Check Online

The Ministry of Interior provides a facility to check Qatar ID validity online on its web portal. If you want to know the process for QID validity check, kindly follow the steps given below.

Step 1: Go to Qatar MOI Portal

On your mobile or computer, open a web browser and go to MOI Portal official website @portal.moi.gov.qa.

Step 2: Select Inquiries

On MOI homepage, click on MOI Services section to view the service list. Then select Inquiries option to go to Qatar MOI Inquiries Services Page.

Step 3: Select Other Inquiries

Check the list of inquiry services given on left side of the screen and select Other Inquiries option.

Step 4: Select Official Documents

Now, check the inquiry options given under Other Services and click on Official Documents to open MOI Qatar ID Validity Check Page on your screen.

Step 5: Choose QID Number or Passport Number

You can check your Qatar ID Validity by QID Number or Passport Number. The expats often prefer to check QID validity by Passport No., while citizens do Qatar ID validity inquiry by QID No.. You can choose the option that is convenient for you.

Step 6: Enter QID/Passport Number and Nationality

If you selected QID Number option in step-5, enter your 11-Digit Qatar ID Number in the given box. If you selected Passport Number option in step-5, enter your Passport Number and Nationality details.

Step 7: Enter Captcha Code and Click on Search

Here you need to enter the Captcha Code as shown on left side of the box. Make sure that you have entered all information correctly and then click on Search button.

Step 8: View Your Qatar ID Validity

As you click on Search button, your Qatar ID Validity details will appear on screen.

You can view your Qatar ID Expiry Date on screen and match it with present date to know if it is valid or expired.

#3. Qatar ID Validity Check via Metrash2 App

The Ministry of Interior has created Metrash2 mobile app to make its services reach anyone, anywhere and anytime. The Qatari citizens and expat residents with a smart mobile phone can check their QID validity via Metrash2 App easily and instantly.

The Metrash2 App offers easy access to more than 224 MOI services. The Metrash2 App is available for Android Mobile and iOS Device and Huawei Phone.

You can click on one of the links given above to download and install Metrash2 App on your mobile phone.

Here I provide the steps for Qatar ID validity check through Metrash2 App as follows;

1. Open Metrash2 App on your mobile phone.
2. Login with your Qatar ID and PIN/Password. If you are a new user, choose Register option to sign up and then login.
3. After successful login, select Wallet section.
4. Tick the box named as ID Card.
5. Your Qatar ID Card will show up on screen.
6. Check your QID expiry date to know if it is valid or expired.

#4. Qatar ID Validity Check by SMS

The Qatar ID validity inquiry service is also available by SMS system. The Qatari citizens and residents can find their QID validity easily by sending a simple text message from their QID linked mobile number.

Type your 11-Digit Qatar ID in a New SMS and send the SMS to 92992.

Once, the message is sent, wait for a minute to receive a New SMS. Thereafter, open the new message to view your Qatar ID Validity and Status.

#5. Qatar QID Validity Check at MOI Service Centers

There are many MOI service centers situated in various parts of the State of Qatar. You can visit your nearby service center to check your Qatar ID validity in-person.

1. Go to any of the above given MOI Service Center.
2. Ask the service employee for Qatar ID validity check service.
3. Provide your Passport or Driving License or any other official document.
4. The service employee will check and inform you the exact validity of your QID Card.
5. If your ID Card is expired, you should immediately apply for renewal at the MOI service center.
6. If your ID Card is valid and not expired, get your documents back from the employee and exit the service center.

All five methods for Qatar ID validity check are free of cost. If you check QID validity by SMS, the mobile operator may charge for sending the SMS but the MOI does not take any fee.

Knowing QID validity helps you to be aware about your legal stay in Qatar. You should note down the expiry date and set a reminder for Qatar ID Renewal to avoid legal consequences.

What If My Qatar ID Validity is Over?

The Government of Qatar provides 90 days grace period after the Qatar ID Validity is over. So, every ID card holder has 90 days to decide if they want to stay in Qatar or want to leave.

Once, your QID validity is over, you cannot access government services and banking services in Qatar. You have to renew your Qatar ID to regain the access to these services.

During the process of MOI Qatar ID Check Online, if you find out that your QID validity is over then you need to take one of the two actions that I am sharing here.

1. If you want to continue staying & working in Qatar, apply for Qatar ID Renewal online or at nearest MOI service center.
2. If you do not want to continue staying in Qatar, complete your pending work, make all due payments and settle all documentation tasks ASAP and exit Qatar in 90 days from your ID Card expiry date.

In case you fail to renew your Qatar ID Card and you are still in Qatar, the MOI will charge QID Fine on you. The QID Fine is 10 Riyals per day after the Qatar ID Grace Period is over.
